norton is good but yes the system resources are large for a computer....

you can try the AVG free home version. that has virus, spam, key filters and the like and did a great job on the laptop that i have.

Don't try to lower the water instead of raising the bridge.....

I would just invest in having enough RAM rather than compromise security.

If you have 2GB of Ram you will be fine ... no matter which AV you choose.

regards,
philip T

The free antivirus software is the best.
Choose between AVG and AntiVir at www.majorgeeks.com
Both are good but keep them updated, and stay away from the porn sites, music sharing, and casino sites or you will get a virus no matter what you do unless you dump Microsoft and get Kubuntu, which is, by the way, also free.

Heres one that will be great but is for 1500:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i7+Processor+/+17.3%22+Display+/+6GB+Memory+/+1TB+Hard+Drive/1791125.p?id=1218291940818&skuId=1791125

Another one for $ 830. The difference is this has less space than the top and less RAM:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i7+Processor+/+16%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+640GB+Hard+Drive+-+Slate/1260852.p?id=1218244144261&skuId=1260852

You can also search for yourself. Just look for processor type (i5 or i7 recommended by intel).
RAM that is 4GB or more. and for Hard drive space depends on him. if he needs alot of space, get around 640GB-1TB. if he doesn't you can search for one that is lower.

Here is my personal favorite. Its cheap and looks cool!:

Leave him asap. He's obviously so addicted that he's denying it and at that point there's nothing much you can do unless you're willing to stay and really try to convince him and help him which is going to make your life miserable and unhappy.

My ex boyfriend was addicted to xbox. That's all he ever did. He would stay up till like 6 am playing and not wake up till like 3 in the afternoon then start all over. He wouldn't help his mom clean up his filthy mess or take the dogs for a walk to pee. Nothing. I helped him clean the basement once and I took a wet cloth to wipe the table down where he played and the cloth was BLACK. Ew.

A guy like this has no future and has no intention of fixing himself. I really suggest you leave.
